BRIEF: Bronte to host Special Olympics basketball event

Feb. 23--Special Olympics Texas will host an area-wide basketball competition for more than 240 athletes from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Bronte High School.
Athletes as young as eight-years old will show off their skills on the hardwood, while players 12 years and up will be competing as a means to qualify for the upcoming statewide tournament, Summer Games, which will take place in Arlington May 25-28.
Action will include 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games, including Unified play, featuring athletes with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities on the same team.
Opening Ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m., and awards will be presented to teams at the conclusion of the tournament.
The event is open to the public and free to attend.
Bronte High School is located at 210 S. Jefferson St. in Bronte.
