The Sandwich Rcreation Department and the Massachusetts Special Olympics are offering the Sandwich Sailors program. Registration is open for the following winter programs. For more information or to register, call 508-888-4361.
Candlepin Bowling: Saturdays starting January 6 through March 3 from 3 to 4:30 PM at Ryan Family Lanes, 376 Main Street, Hyannis. Athletes ages 8 to 15 are invited to join the Sandwich Recreation Department's Special Olympics Traditional Candlepin Bowling Team. The free program will teach participants basic bowling skills and etiquette.
Special Olympics Basketball Team: Saturdays from December 2 to March 3 from 10 to 11 AM at the Riverview School Gym. This free program is open to athletes ages 8 to 21. Participants will learn basketball skills, improve their physical fitness, and learn about acceptance and participating in organized sports.
Special Olympics Young Athletes Program: Fridays from 9:30 to 10 AM at the Sandwich Recreation Department, 34 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, Sandwich. This free program is open to all athletes ages 3 to 7, with or without disabilities. Athletes will participate in games and songs that promote physical health and cognitive and social development.
Jolly Jaunt 5K: December 3 at 10 AM at the Resort and Conference Center, 35 Scudder Avenue, 35 Scudder Avenue, Hyannis. The Sandwich Sailors will take part in this holiday-themed run and walk. Residents can support the team by making a donation or participating in the event. All donations will help offset costs for Sailors programming.
