Clifton Journal - 5/11/2018
CLIFTON -- Carla Rodriguez received the 2018 Educator of the Year award from the city's public school district.
A science inclusion teacher, this is Rodriguez's 24th year teaching at Woodrow Wilson Middle School.
Rodriguez, her peers say, has a passion for teaching. Her after-school activities include coaching and facilitating her Special Olympic Play Unified Club. These are special needs students and their general education students who take part not only in seasonal Special Olympic Activities, but social activities as well.
Play Unified travels to Special Education N.J. Winter Games, and also run track, bowl and play basketball. Rodriguez , in her spare time hikes, runs in local marathons and teaches yoga.
"She is an inspiration to all," said fellow teacher Linda Trout, who herself is a former Educator of the Year.
